MAUI Activities - The trail ride begins at the Mendes Ranch Corral in the West Maui Mountains and rides up into the mountain through rolling green pastures to the edge of a lush ravine at 3000 foot elevation. The Trail continues down along the edge of Waihe'e Valley to the coastline where you will have an opportunity to relax before heading back up to the corral where refreshments are served. All tours offer spectacular panoramic view of the West Maui Mountains, the crystal blue waters of the Pacific Ocean, all of Central Maui and Haleakala.
Bring sunglasses and sunscreen.
Wear long pants and close-toed shoes.
Two tours available both are 2 to 2 1/2 hour ride includes refreshments.
AM tours check in at 8:45am and PM tours check in at 12:15 pm - Mondays through Saturdays.
There is a weight limit of 250 pounds.
Children only over 7 years of age.
No pregnant women and those with back or neck injuries
Mendes Ranch provides such an amazing experience. They pay extreme attention to detail yet doesn't overcrowd you with too many details or things to remember. They pair you with a horse according to your riding experience (beginner, intermediate, advanced). The trail rides are SO authentic and really a "true" trail ride, not some boring tail to nose through an open field ride. You go on some crazy paths through the trees, walk along a fence-line on a cliff, and the greatest of the greatest was being given the option to gallop the horses...not just once, but TWICE! Even if you're a beginner rider, I recommend running your horse at least once. The saddles are big and sturdy and very safe. I guarantee you will have an incredible experience. My guide was Butch and he was amazing. He chats with you, takes TONS of pictures of you and your friends/family on your own phone, and gives you and your horse local passion fruit called Lilikoi. He even videotaped the runners on someones cell phone! Everyone at the ranch was so hospitable and I will definitely be going back again.
I was the most experienced rider out of the visitors, my son had never ridden before, and they accommodated us perfectly, providing horses well-suited to each person's riding abilities, stopping to take photos at some beautiful vistas, and truly getting the horseback experience in about a 2-hour ride. We also went for the BBQ lunch, which was great for the money, and I recommend.
Cancellations must be made by calling our concierge lines at 808-214-9283. We will not accept cancellations via email, voicemail, fax or chatline. You must call at least 48 hours before the event for credit or refund to be applied. Some activities require a longer notice or will not allow cancellations once booking is made (each tour description will show exceptions to the 48 hour rule if applicable). Activities are 100% refunded in the event of your tour being canceled by the Activity Provider for any reason, such as weather, mechanical, etc. Ohana Fun! Hawaii will make every effort to get approval from an activity provider but cannot guarantee a refund until such approval is granted.
