Kealakekua Bay Dolphin Kayak Snorkel

BIG ISLAND Activities - Enjoy a 5 hour morning kayak tour as you paddle back in time to the historical ancient Hawaiian village of Ka'awaloa, site of the Captain Cook Monument, right here on the Big Island at breath taking Kealakekua Bay.  Enjoy commonly sighted dolphins playing in the bay.  Snorkel one of the most pristine coral reefs in the United States as colorful tropical fish and the occasional turtle accompany you through some of the most spectacular underwater landscapes in the world.

Highlights

     * Kayak in pristine blue waters
     * Encounter many different species of sea-life
     * Explore sea caves and cliffs
     * All Gear included... just wear your bathing suits!

If you are lucky enough to be in Hawaii during the winter months, you may be able to enjoy being in the water with humpback whales. Experience massive sea caves that you can actually paddle into! See 20' - 45' rock cliffs, that some of our more daring paddlers jump off of! Last but not least enjoy some of the most beautiful and rural coastal scenery you have ever seen.

Hawaiian Culture is one of self-sufficiency. Hawaiians lived off the land growing or hunting in the mountains or on the sea, for the food they needed to survive. Hawaiians either walked or canoed to where they wanted to go. You will experience that same freedom to explore off the beaten path.

Whether hiking through a beautiful native rainforest filled with indigenous plants, birds, and the sounds of your footsteps, or kayaking down the beautiful Kona coast like the native Hawaiians once did with their canoes, you will explore some of the most breathtaking scenery, both above and below sea level.

You will be guided below towering cliffs and into sea caves. Snorkel gorgeous underwater coral landscapes while colorful tropical fish accompany you. You will be completely amazed by the breathtaking scenery. If that doesn't take your breathe away, maybe the cliff jumping will!

Enjoy an activity that will not only be fun, but also be educational and cultural. You will leave feeling confident in your kayaking abilities and educated in the history and culture of the areas we venture into.

My wife and I did the Kealakekua Bay-Captain Cook Monument kayak/snorkel tour during our week stay on the Big Island and it was the highlight of our trip! Snorkeling among the coral reef and tropical fish is amazing on its own, but our tour guides, John and Keean, enhanced the experience with their tour, stories, and the masterful way in which they ensured a good time was being had by all involved. Our particular tour also included a family with three children. John and Keean accommodated for the needs of all tour participants, including entertaining the youngest participant, a four year old who was less interested in snorkeling. In addition to taking the time to hold paramount the safety of all involved on the tour, our guides conveyed a deep respect for the land in which they lived and worked. When you arrive on the Big Island, you will most likely hear about similar kayak/ snorkel tours, both legitimate and otherwise (we heard about two others with an hour of arriving at the airport), but I would highly recommend looking into Aloha Kayak Co. if you have any interest in checking out an area of the world that often makes the top 10 list for places to snorkel.
