Bike It Maui Downhill Adventure

MAUI ACTIVITIES - Get ready for an awesome adventure that combines a visit to Haleakala Crater, the House of the Sun, for an unforgettable sunrise before begining your Maui bicycle tour, which will begin at the 6,500-foot level of Mount Haleakala, just outside the Park entrance. You will  cruise down to sea level through the world's most spectacular scenery.  You won't believe it!  You won't forget it!

Your journey begins with a pick-up at your hotel or condo when you'll be taken tjust below the entrance to the  Haleakala National Park, where your bike ride will start from. This is a once in a lifetime experience!  After your sunrise stop at the summit of Haleakala, you'll coast down from the gate of the National Park to Maui's cowboy town - Makawao. A 22-mile downhill ride on paved roads with only 400 yards of peddling. You will have several photo shoot stops along the way down. This is a ride of a lifetime! You won't believe it, you won't forget it. As you descend you will find unique sites. Makawao, Hawaiian for "Where the forest begins" is the center and heart of the area generally known as upcountry Maui. Nestled among the hills along the road to Haleakala National Park, this is where the pineapple fields cease and tall Eucalyptus and Jacaranda trees shade Maui's green pastures; where the first paniolo's (cowboys) set up home in the early 20's when cattle was first introduced to the island.

During your ride, you will see unbelievable views of the Islands of Hawaii, Molokini, Kahoolawe, Lanai, and the West Maui Mountains, with photo stops along the way. You will view the pineapple and sugar cane fields that once dominated Hawaii's industries, see the various protea flowers, orchids, mango, papaya, avocado, macadamia nut, guava, lychee, coconut, wild coffee trees, and many other exotic plants and flowers.

Thank you for being the best! Being atop Mt Haleakala at sunrise and sailing down the mountain on a bike I felt nothing but "alive" and pure "joy". It was an AMAZING birthday, I will always remember where I was on my special day. Kevin & Ryan were professionals. Very informative and always looking out for our safety. We really enjoyed being in a small, personal group versus a big tour. The breakfast at Charlie's was the perfect finish and delicious. I have told so many people about you guys and will continue to pass on your name to anyone thinking about embarking on this adventure. Lori & Dan Palmer

I just wanted to write and tell you how much my husband and I enjoyed our tour with Kevin and Billy. We recently traveled to Maui and the Big Island on our honeymoon. On Saturday, October 3rd, we took a tour with your company. It was one of the highlights of our trip. Kevin and Billy were awesome.... a great deal of fun and ready to tell us about everything we could possibly want to know about regarding Maui. I was really impressed with how well they knew the region and all it had to offer...both currently and throughout different periods historically. They were both eager to tell us fun little facts. The bike ride itself was a amazing and unlike anything we had ever done. I felt completely safe and at ease with Billy as our leader. They both had great positive energy and a true passion about their work. And even though the weather didn't cooperate and the sunshine didn't show up until we were heading down the mountain, I would say we were completely satisfied with our experience. The only disappointment was that we didn't meet Kevin and Billy until the end of our trip....we would have learned so much more about things we had already done on the island. One of my favorite parts of the day, (in addition to the DELICIOUS breakfasts at Charley's) was the ride back to Ka'anapali with Kevin. He was our own personal tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about the landscape and vegetation, history of the area and way of life of the Hawaiian people. They were both courteous and gracious guides and they certainly enhanced our experience tremendously. From start to finish, they were professional, really passionate about what they do and a great pleasure to have met. I would happily recommend Bike It Maui to anyone considering the Haleakala bike ride and if we are ever lucky enough to return to your beautiful island, we're sure to take another ride!! Thanks again for a great experience and a lifetime of memories! Mahalo!! Andrea and Tony Missita Queensbury, NY

We wanted to say thank you for the AWESOME bike tour/ride down the Haleakala Crater. The whole experience was just wonderful. Billy and Billy were great, very informative and extremely nice. They made the trip so much fun. AND one of the best parts of the trip was breakfast at Charley's GREAT ending to a wonderful/fun/exciting trip down the Crater. Would highly recommend your company Petra to my friends. Sue and Ed Eaton Phoenix, Arizona
