Your Lanai raft journey will begin at 6:30 a.m., when you'll depart from Mala Wharf in Lahaina. You better hold on tight because you're in for a rafting adventure you'll never forget! The first part of your venture is along the north shore of Lanai, the home of the spinner dolphins. You'll cross the AuAu channel and down the windswept coast where miles of isolated white sandy beaches beckon you ashore for exploration. The rushed hulls of the shipwrecks down this coast line date back to World War II.
You'll continue around the leeward side of the southwest coastline where you'll get to skim within a few feet of towering seacliffs and lava rock out crops. Numerous coves along the leeward side of Lanai offer splendid snorkeling where marine creatures of all types can be found. Any one of these spots offers a remote and secluded setting for lunch. Sea caves, burial caves, blowholes, tidepools, spinner and spotted dolphins, monk seals, shipwrecks and white sandy beaches make this trip a must for everyone. You'll be journeying into the wild heart of Hawaii, something very few ever get to experience.

- Your tour will cover 70 miles round trip, passing along shipwrecks on the north shore, make about 3 snorkeling stops where you'll get to jump into a marine sanctuaries. Every trip is unique, depending on sea conditions.
About Maui Ocean Riders
Ocean Riders is owner operated since 1988 and is the original Lanai Rafting Adventure and the only Maui Rafting Company operating rigid=hull inflatables, called H.B.I.s which are used for search and rescue with the U.S. Coast Guard. This vessel measures 30 feet in length and is powered by twin 250hp Mercury Outboard engines.
Certified to carry 22 passengers, but will max out at 18, to make sure you'll have extra room and plenty of comfort; also 50% of the boat is shaded and 50% of the passengers get to sit on a padded bench. The hulls are over 1,000 pounds heavier than most other rafts, translating to a much smoother, more comfortable ride.

Tour Restrictions
Due to the adventuresome nature of this tour we do not recommend it for pregnant women, those suffering of back or neck problems or those who have recently been in surgery or suffering of any acute physical problems.
Tour Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours prior to the tour for parties of 3 or less and 72 hours prior to tour for parties with 4 or more.
Chad and Ian showed my husband and I an amazing time! We had only 7 others on the "raft" with us so our trip was super intimate! They showed us the best spots where we saw tons of dolphins and snorkeled with the most beautiful tropical fish and soooo much more!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Best snorkeling ever - best captain and mate - so knowledgeable and new the right spots to see the dolphins, sea turtles and all the amazing fish - reefs, caves, much much more - Peter free dove to show us an octopus which was amazing. Swam with dolphins that approached us while snorkeling. Great lunch and experience. thank you so much - this is a 10 star - captain ryan was the best - peter wonderful and so very interactive - thanks a million gents - made my daughters dream of a lifetime come true - dolphins and sea turtles who could ask for more -
Highlight of my trip. I was unsure of this adventure since I do little more than a doggie paddle but it was the best day. They keep the tours small, our group had 15 people from children to grandparents, and our crew was excellent. Captain Patti and Jason are top notch. They are well equipped with floats and assistance for poor swimmers and/or first time snorklers. I wasn't sure if I was going to try snorkling at all but both Patti and Jason are very encouraging and reassuring with putting on any pressure. Jason was very helpful and patient with both me and my mom. We couldn't have done it without him and I am so glad I tried it. The snorkeling stops were beautiful. The up and down with each swell was more fun than any roller coaster and the sights were superior. It was really fun to circumnavigate the whole island. Patti is an excellent guide. The snorkeling was great, the trip was fun, our guides were excellent, and the day couldn't have been better. The best part though was on the way back to Maui. We were all hoping to see dolphins and had just about given up hope when we came upon a large pod of Spinner Doplhins. It was incredible. The day was long (6:30 to 3:00) but it didn't feel like it. I highly recommend Ocean Riders tours. If you have a great time be sure to tip your crew; they deserve it for the great job they do.
Like you booked a private trip! This was the highlight of our vacation for our family of five (ages of kids is 18, 11, 5) and we really can't say enough nice things about the personal attention, small group size, comfortable atmosphere, informative and safe crew, and snorkeling opportunities. We vacationed in Maui with the hope that our kids (with such a large age gap) would have shared experiences and make memories as a family. Great value three snorkeling stops, interesting conversation explaining Lanai and other surroundings, a stop by a WWII ship, and delicious food. We went three days later on a larger boat to Molikini, and while we like snorkeling there, it doesn't even begin to compare with the Ocean Riders experience and Shark Fin snorkeling location behind Lanai. This trip will exceed your expectations.
Totally worth it! We heard about Ocean Riders from a friend of ours who said if she could have done only one thing here in the islands, this would be it. I came with my wife and 3 high school/college age kids and we had a total blast. The snorkeling was incredible! There were 3 snorkels with plenty of fish and coral to really admire. However, be prepared for a long and often bumpy boat ride, which is still fun if you're into that kind of thing, and "continental breakfast" really means granola bars, fruit, and juice. The sandwiches, etc for lunch was great, on the other hand. Our guides were Patti and Jason and they were a riot the whole way, knew tons of interesting facts about the places we saw and stopped at, and took several pictures for us along the way. Would definitely go with OR again.
